About
I brought twenty years of teaching experience at all levels of education including preschool, special education, high school and junior college to my work, and I have continued to teach in my field of Chinese Medicine at the Pacific School for Oriental Medicine in Chicago. I will always be a teacher and now I am able to focus my passion and service at supporting and teaching people about integrative medicine, particularly Chinese Medicine. My focus is around learning increasingly learning more about our emotional, spiritual and physical bodies and how they work together as an energy system. I look at how we hold patterns of energy in our bodies that may cause disease or hold us back in our life through the repetition of behavioral patterns that no longer serve us. I am presently involved in a two year intensive study exploring the field of heart-centered hypnotherapy. I love my work and continue to learn and bring back the best of what I learn to my healing arts practice to share with my clients.
Treatment Modalities
My treatment modality is primarily through acupuncture, a traditional form of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture improves the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of a person. It is a safe and effective chemical free way to promote and enhance the body’s self-healing abilities. I also have a certification in Advanced Energy Healing from the Inner Focus School of Healing and I am currently finishing my certification in Heart-Centered Hypnosis from the Wellness Center in Seattle, Washington.
Experience
My undergraduate degree is in Psychology and my Master’s degree is in Education. I began volunteering on self-help hotlines during my time as an undergraduate student. In Chicago, I have trained with the women of Women in Crisis Counseling and Assistance and I have also volunteered on a domestic violence crisis line.
My Interest in Working with Survivors
I am an advocate for all people, and especially so for people who have experienced trauma in their lives.
How My Practice Holistically Addresses the Impacts of Sexual Trauma
Chinese medicine is known to encompass healing on a physical, mental and spiritual level. Acupuncture recognizes and focuses on the meridian system in our bodies, the energy system of the body, so healing on this level is naturally holistic and inclusive of the whole person Advanced Energy Healing helps clients find snapshots of their experiences that are held in the body and keeping the client in unconscious behaviors. These patterns are then released and replaced with supportive, healthy conscious ways of living.
Modifications for Survivors
I reassure clients who are survivors of sexual violence that they are safe and in control of the flow of the session. Our sessions together are always client-directed and my healing arts center is a soothing environment where I am committed to practicing my client-centered healing modality.
Payment Options
I am able to provide a sliding-scale.
